Welcome everyone to the Kelowna Newcomers' Club. Our club is all about creating opportunities for you to make new friends, learn about the Kelowna area, and help you integrate into your new community. If you are a new member, you will find there are many activities and events for you to join and contribute to. We are always open to suggestions, so if you have any ideas for other activities, please talk to me or Enid Purvis, the Activities Coordinator.
Our 40th Anniversary party is doubling as our Christmas Party and is a great way to relax, have dinner, and enjoy an evening of fun and dancing. I would encourage you all to buy your tickets for this gala event to be held on Sunday, December 7 at The Coast Capri Hotel. This should be a very well attended event and enjoyed by all. Tickets will be on sale at the November meeting but they are limited, so please buy yours at the meeting to avoid disappointment. Guests are also welcome.
You will find that many of the activity groups will also be holding some sort of Christmas event; so prepare yourself for a busy holiday/party season. I know many of you will commence decorating your homes soon for the festive season and I would like to take this opportunity, on behalf of the KNC Executive, to wish you all a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays.
We will be selling Entertainment books again at the November meeting. This is your last chance to buy one. At $30 each, they are a bargain and provide savings on many restaurants, golf clubs, and other activities.
Because of the Gala Anniversary/Xmas party in December, we will not be holding our usual monthly meeting. Our next meeting will be January 21, 2009.
Happy New Year!
Paul Bethel President.
